About Planejador WiFi
Planejador WiFi is a Wi-Fi coverage calculator for houses and apartments. The idea is simple: try it on the floor plan before you buy, to see where the router should go and how many mesh nodes your home needs. It is part of Antes de Comprar, a set of free tools for planning before you spend.
Who it is for
For anyone about to buy a router or a mesh kit who wants to get it right the first time. You don't need to know what dBm or backhaul mean: the map shows coverage in colors, and the technical details are there for anyone who wants them.
Networking enthusiasts can adjust materials, bands and router models. Installers can put together a quick estimate for a client and send the exported project.
For large offices, warehouses or networks with many access points, the right approach is an on-site survey with proper equipment.
How it works under the hood
All the math runs in your browser. There is no sign-up, and your project never goes to a server: it stays in your browser, as the privacy policy explains.
The estimate comes from a propagation model that adds up the loss over distance and through each wall in the way; the methodology shows the formula and the values. The numbers quoted in the guides come from the same code that draws the map, so the guides and the planner don't disagree.
Brands and models
Planejador WiFi doesn't sell any equipment. The built-in router models, from several brands, are a starting point for comparison, and you can add your own model if it isn't on the list.
Open source
The code is on GitHub under the MIT license: anyone can read, copy and adapt it. The site is available in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and each language has its own URLs.
